[ARCHIVED] Bridges will be locked down Saturday for ongoing evacuations

Pinellas County plans to lock all drawbridges in a down position by 7 a.m. Saturday to accommodate faster vehicle traffic during the current Level A evacuation and in anticipation of high winds.

  •  U.S. Coast Guard to alert boaters

Pinellas County plans to lock all drawbridges in a down position by 7 a.m. Saturday to accommodate faster vehicle traffic during the current Level A evacuation and in anticipation of high winds. 

The county is coordinating with municipalities and the Florida Department of Transportation to lock down all drawbridges countywide on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. The U.S. Coast Guard is alerting boaters of the change.  

All bridges will be open to vehicle traffic. 

The bridges will remain in locked down position for the duration of the ordered Level A evacuation, which began at 6 a.m. Friday. Residents in mobile homes and residents in coastal and low-lying areas in this evacuation have until 8 a.m. Sunday to leave their homes and find safe shelter in anon-evacuation zone.
