[ARCHIVED] Indian Shores Blood Drive Scheduled for July 28, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 28, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., the Indian Shores Property Owners Association will host a blood drive at the Indian Shores Municipal Center to help with the Covid-19 crisis response.

Those of you who would like to donate blood should click on this link - https://donor.oneblood.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/966516 to sign up for an appointment time to donate.

Masks will be required to be worn at this event. If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided.

Blood DriveEach person attending will have their temperature taken and you will need to provide your email address so your results can be sent to you. You will also be tested for antibodies.

When you click on the above link you will see 4 tabs across the top. They are: Whole Blood, Platelets, Double Red Cells, or Plasma. Plasma and platelets will NOT be drawn at this event, so don’t click on either of those.

Most of you will want to donate Whole Blood. If you don’t know what is meant by Double Red Cells, this is what it is:

“A double red cell donation is automated. And unlike traditional whole blood donations, a double red cell donation allows you to safely give two units of red cells, instead of just one. The blood is drawn and then separated into components. The red cells are collected — enough for two units — and the rest of the components are safely returned to the donor. The procedure takes about 20 minutes longer than a whole blood donation.”
