The strain found
in Florida is not known to be harmful to people or marine life. The musty smell and pinkish color is from the die-off of the algae and is also not considered to be harmful to people or marine life. The County is monitoring.
The photo to the left shows a Trichodesmium bloom that was recently spotted at Pass-A-Grille Beach and Sand Key Park.
