In a continuous effort to ensure public safety and welfare, Pinellas County Consumer Protection has scheduled several events Jan. 23-27 in recognition of Tax Identify Theft Awareness Week.
This week is dedicated to educating the public on how to protect themselves from tax-related crimes. Tax identity theft occurs when an individual uses stolen personal information, such as a Social Security number, to file a fraudulent tax return and obtain a refund.
The closest session to Indian Shores is scheduled for this Thursday, January 26, 2017, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Largo Community Center (400 Alt. Keen Road, Largo)
