Meetings
In accordance with Florida law regarding meetings pertaining to Town affairs and the deliberative processes that involve the Town Council, Board, or Committee members shall be duly noticed and accessible and open to the public to attend, with the exception of Shade meetings as outlined in Section 286.011(8) of the Florida Statutes.
The customary convening of Regular Town Council meetings are systematically scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, commencing at 5:00 p.m. Board and/or Committee meetings may also be scheduled on the same day. Special Town Council or Emergency meetings may be scheduled in the event of an important matter that cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled Regular Town Council meeting. It is imperative to acknowledge that certain extenuating circumstances may necessitate deviations from this standard schedule. These circumstances encompass, but are not limited to:
- September budget hearings
- Elections
- Adverse meteorological conditions
- Insufficient attendance by requisite meeting members
Such deviations shall be promptly communicated to the public in accordance with established governmental procedures.
Public comments are welcome when the Chair of the meeting opens the floor to the public. Commenters are provided and are limited to four minutes to speak. To be heard by the governing body and the public, those who wish to speak must do so at the podium facing the governing body and must state their name and address prior to making the comment.
Agendas & Minutes
Agendas are available prior to the meetings. Meeting minutes are available following approval at the next or future Town Council meeting.
Any person who decides to appeal any decision of the Town Council, Boards or Committees, with respect to any matter considered at any such meeting will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes that testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
